Our Services

List G Barristers is owned by its members, all of whom are committed to professional excellence and expertise in commercial and public law advocacy, strategy and advice.  Our barristers are some of Australia's leading, independent commercial and public law specialists.

Lawyers

Private practice lawyers can instruct our barristers for general advisory work, pre-litigation strategy advice, litigation and all types of alternative dispute resolution. Involving a barrister early provides access to specialist advice and a considered strategy from the outset. In our experience, this is an efficient and economical way to approach litigation. For private practice lawyers, the first step is to contact a member of our Clerking team. Led by CEO Jane King, our Clerks are qualified lawyers who provide current information about our barristers' legal expertise. They also assist with fee rate, availability and general administrative enquiries.

Direct Briefing

Barristers are typically briefed by private practice law firms. In recent years, there has been a growing trend in both the corporate and government sectors to employ lawyers 'in-house'. In-house lawyers who hold practising certificates can brief members of List G Barristers directly without engaging an external law firm. Direct briefing provides the opportunity to secure the very best legal advice quickly and cost effectively. Our members are specialist commercial and public law barristers who are regularly engaged by in-house counsel and government lawyers at the highest levels. To enquire about direct briefing, please contact our CEO, Jane King directly.

Direct Access

In certain circumstances, a barrister can act on instructions from a person who is not a solicitor. the Legal Profession Uniform Conduct (Barristers) Rules (specifically Rule 22) governs the manner in which this can occur. Generally, the direct access work undertaken by List G Barristers is limited to pre-litigation advice work and usually comes from corporations or government departments who may not employ in-house solicitors. To enquire about direct access, please contact our CEO, Jane King directly.
