List G Barristers welcomes expressions of interest to join our membership at any time. We look for applicants who will add strength to our reputation as leading commercial and public law advocates.
New Readers
To practise as a barrister in Victoria, lawyers must first become ‘Readers’, which involves reading with an experienced barrister mentor. During this period, Readers are required to complete the Readers’ Course run by the Victorian Bar in March and September each year. Entry to the course is by exam.
List G Barristers welcomes applications from practitioners who have passed the Bar exam and have been formally offered a place in the Readers’ Course. We offer the opportunity to develop your practice in a leading Melbourne commercial and public law list and have a proud history of high caliber recruitment.
Written applications should be submitted in accordance with the Victorian Bar Guidelines for List Applications and addressed to our CEO, Jane King ([email protected]). Applications should include a copy of your academic transcript, two references, your curriculum vitae and a cover letter. Your cover letter should outline your relevant experience, intended legal practice at the Victorian Bar and reasons for applying to join List G Barristers.
Applications for membership commencing March 2025 will close on Friday 17 January 2025. Interviews will be conducted in-person in the week commencing Monday 10 February 2025. Successful applicants receive a commission free period on joining List G Barristers, and a comprehensive range of exclusive member benefits.
