List G Barristers congratulates Bryan Keon-Cohen AM QC following his graduation with a PhD from Monash University on 3 May 2012. Bryan’s thesis was his book, published in August 2011: Mabo in the Courts: from Islander Tradition to Native Title: A Memoir (2 Vols ASP, 2011).
The book is an insider's account of the landmark native title case and discusses Mabo's motivations, the Murray Islander witnesses, their culture, a lengthy trial, Queensland's determined opposition, the lawyers and judges and final success in the High Court.
