Gavin practises in commercial and public law.

Gavin specialises in commercial law, with a particular focus in class actions, tax, industrial law and complex regulatory proceedings. Since coming to the Bar, he has acted in class actions including Allen v G8 Education Ltd,Tweed Bait Pty Ltd v Commonwealth, Dawson v AI Ltd and Impiombato v BHP Ltd. He is currently also advising ASIC in consumer finance matters including ASIC v Walker Stores Pty Ltd and related cases, and the Commissioner of Taxation in a Part IVC appeal in Department of Education (Victoria) v Commissioner of Taxation.

He also has a particular interest in industrial law and acts led and unled for employees, unions and employers in the Fair Work Commission and Federal Court.

Before coming to the Bar, Gavin practised at Baker McKenzie, Gilbert + Tobin, and the Australian Government Solicitor and was previously associate to the Honourable Justice Nichols of the Supreme Court of Victoria.
