He advises and appears in a broad range of commercial matters including in the areas of consumer law, superannuation class actions, corporations law (directors' duties and shareholder oppression), professional negligence, equity and trade marks law. Israel has acted for individuals, corporations, insurers, government agencies and regulators.
Israel also advises and appears in administrative law matters, including for government agencies, regulators, Royal Commissions and inquiries. In 2019 and 2020, he was a member of Counsel Assisting in the Royal Commission into the Management of Police Informants.
Before coming to the Bar, Israel was Associate to the Honourable Justice Middleton AM and Associate to the Honourable Justice Moshinsky at the Federal Court of Australia. He previously practised as a solicitor at Allens, where he worked predominantly on pharmaceutical and engineering patent disputes (in particular Automatic Technology (Australia) Pty Ltd v B&D Australia Pty Ltd, and Warner-Lambert Company LLC v Apotex Pty Ltd, NSD 199 of 2014).
