Andrew Cameron has a broad national commercial and public law practice

Andrew has particular experience in corporations & securities law, class actions, contract, equity & trusts, valuation and real property law, commercial crime, inquiries and royal commissions.

Andrew has been recognised in Best Lawyers in Australia and Doyle’s Guide to Leading Commercial Litigation & Disputes Barristers in Victoria and Australia.

Andrew holds a Bachelor of Commerce, Bachelor of Laws (Hons) and a Master of Laws, all from the University of Melbourne. He won a number of academic prizes during his undergraduate studies.

He completed his articles at Minter Ellison, was a partner of Gadens and read with Wendy Harris QC and David Batt QC.

Pacific Current Group Limited v Fitzpatrick & Ors: ongoing breach of directors’ duties dispute (led by Ian Waller QC and with Kate Burke, Paul Annabell and Sahrah Hogan) and de Tocqueville v Pacific Current Group Limited [2020] FCA 172: application for leave to commence a statutory derivative action in the Federal Court of Australia (led by Ian Waller QC).

In the matter of New Aim Pty Ltd: acting for one of the founders of the company (an AFR Top 500 private company) in a shareholder oppression case in the Supreme Court of Victoria.

Advising a former director of Crown Resorts Limited in relation to:

- the Royal Commission into the Casino Operator and Licence (Vic); and

- the Royal Commission into the affairs of the Crown Casino Perth (WA).

Numerous appearances and advice in commercial crime matters, including:

- acting for an ASX-100 listed company charged with in excess of 50 criminal offences (led by Neil Clelland QC);

- appearing in a 3 week committal for a former Managing Director of an ASX listed company charged with obtaining property by deception (led by Paul Holdenson QC); and

- acting in the Federal Court of Australia on behalf of the Chair of an ASX listed company seeking to set aside search warrants executed by the AFP.

Acting for the Tax Practitioners Board in disciplinary inquiries.

Appearances and advice to various Ministers, Government Departments and corporations in relation to the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (including being led by Stephen Donaghue QC, now Commonwealth Solicitor-General).


Andrew is currently a member of the Board of Directors of List G Barristers.
