Kristen Walker QC has a diverse practice at the bar, with a specialised practice in constitutional law

She practises extensively in administrative, immigration and human rights matters. Kristen also specialises in the law relating to the calculation of WorkCover insurance premiums under the Accident Compensation (WorkCover Insurance) Act and the relevant Premiums Orders. She appears regularly in the High Court of Australia and in the Supreme Court, Federal Court and Court of Appeal.  She took silk in 2014.

Constitutional Law

Kristen is briefed in matters involving all aspects of federal and state constitutional law. Her work in federal constitutional law has included questions concerning heads of power, the separation of powers, the Kable doctrine, judicial review under s 75(v) of the Commonwealth Constitution, the right to trial by jury, acquisition of property under s 51(xxxi) of the Commonwealth Constitution, the right to vote and the freedom of political communication.

Administrative Law

Kristen is briefed in matters involving judicial review of State and federal decision-making. She also practices extensively in matters involving the Charter of Human Rights and Responsibilities 2006 (Vic) and the Human Rights Act 2004 (ACT).

WorkCover Insurance Premiums Law

Kristen specialises in the law relating to the calculation of WorkCover insurance premiums under the Accident Compensation (WorkCover Insurance) Act and the relevant Premiums Orders.
