History

Widely recognised as including some of Melbourne’s leading commercial and public law advocates, List G was established in 1991 by former Barristers’ Clerk Glenda McNaught. From inception, all 33 founding members shared a commitment to professional excellence and commercial acumen in the fields of corporate and commercial law, and to social justice and the protection of human rights and civil liberties in the field of public law.

On Glenda McNaught’s retirement in 2010, the members of List G adopted a “list owned model” whereby the barristers own and operate the List clerking company and associated clerking service – assuming the new name of “List G Barristers”.

List G Barristers now has more than 90 barristers including 19 of Melbourne’s most distinguished Senior and Queen’s Counsel, maintaining our status as Victoria’s leading commercial and public law list. Former and current members of List G Barristers have been involved in some of Australia’s highest profile commercial and public law cases – many of which are regarded as legal and historical landmark decisions.
